Yarmouth Real Estate Information

Yarmouth is a town of 25,000 people on Cape Cod in southeastern Massachusetts.
Officially organized in 1639, Yarmouth is a center for industry and shopping today.
Because Yarmouth is located adjacent to the slightly larger town of Dennis, a number of resources like shopping plazas and hospitals are shared. However, a number of golf courses are located in Yarmouth for residents to call their own, including Kings Way Golf Course, Highlands Golf Course, Bayberry Hills Golf Course, Cummaquid Golf Course, Bass River Golf Course, and Bass River Golf Course.

Transportation is a breeze for residents in Yarmouth thanks to three major thoroughfares that run through the cape. Routes 6, 6A, and 28 all pass through the town and make for easy drives up north to Upper and Lower Cape or west to the mainland of Massachusetts. While the Massachusetts Coastal Railroad only runs freight services in Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Central Railroad runs a seasonal excursion train service that is intended for tourists but is used by residents as well. The route runs from Hyannis to Sandwich and Sagamore. Just beyond the town?s limits is the Barnstable Municipal Airport that has a commercial air link to Boston?s Logan International Airport for connections across the United States and throughout the world.

The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District provides exceptional public education to the town?s youth through a unique system of graduated schooling. The education offered in Yarmouth is one of the best reasons for residents to live in the town. The Lawrence C. MacArthur and Station Avenue elementary schools serve grades K through 3. The Marguerite E. Small School is designated for students in fourth and fifth grade. The Mattacheese Middle School is the local school for grades six through eight.
Yarmouth is also the home of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School that serves not only the Yarmouth community but several other neighboring towns. This arrangement is especially convenient for local students as no commute to school is necessary. Alternative schooling can be sought at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich or Sturgis Charter Public School.

A series of ponds are scattered throughout the town. While some are used for water supply purposes, most can be used for recreational pursuits, an attractive alternative to jumping in the waters of Cape Cod Bay that is just a few minutes from the center of Yarmouth. Mill Pond, Follins Pond, Dennis Pond, Greenough Pond, Dinahs Pond, Horse Pond, Plashes Pond, and Big Sandy Pond are among the largest and most popular.
